Privacy
What the cellar keeps about you, and for how long. A host may have sent you a link to a room without asking you first, so this page is written for a stranger.
No cookies, no trackers
This site sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts. There is no advertising, no tracking pixel and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
What we count
We keep a small first-party tally so we can tell whether the product works. Four events are recorded: room_created, slip_submitted, revealed and cellar_imported. Each is keyed by a pseudonymous id, the anonymous sign-in id your browser is given for the night (later the Account id). Events are never keyed by email, name or IP address, and no event carries a guest name or a vote.
Guest names
The name you enter on a tasting slip is the only personal data in a room. It stays with that room and expires with it: 48 hours after a room opens (7 days once longer room lifetimes ship) the room closes and nobody can open it again. Your votes are visible to the host, and to everyone in the room once the host pops the cork.
BoardGameGeek data
Game data comes from BoardGameGeek. Our server fetches it, never your browser, and keeps a copy for 24 hours so a collection is not fetched twice in one evening. A BoardGameGeek username is used only to fetch that collection.
On your device
Your browser keeps a few things locally so you can pick up where you left off: a draft menu, the rooms you have opened, and the guest name and id you used. They live in your browser's storage, not in a cookie, and clearing site data removes them.
Accounts
There are no accounts yet. When they exist, you will be able to export everything an account holds and delete it, and this page will say how.
